Texas Man Killed in Shootout Buying Happy Meals for His Grandkids
61-year-old Jorge Arbaiza was fatally shot last Sunday night at a McDonald's in Katy, Texas. Arbaiza was picking up a couple of Happy Meals for his grandchildren when a fistfight broke out in the restaurant that sadly ended in gunfire.
According to USA Today, Arbaiza, an innocent bystander, was shot multiple times during an altercation between two parties. His wife, Teresa Arbaiza, awaited his return with their grandchildren in the car.
A fight broke out in the restaurant and at least two guns were pulled out. Several rounds were shot. Unaware of what was happening inside, Teresa spotted people fleeing from the restaurant. She didn't see Jorge among them. She called her husband of 39 years on the phone and learned he had been shot.
Arbaiza told her, "I'm dying. I'm going to die."
Jorge Arbaiza was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. A 26-year-old man also sustained a gunshot wound during the fight but survived.
The shootout at McDonald's in Kate is being investigated by Harris County Sheriff's Office Violent Crime Detectives, along with Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Detectives. Multiple cameras were present at the time of the shooting which gave detectives the ability to identify the suspected vehicle and those involved in the deadly altercation.
Our heartfelt condolences go to Arbaiza's wife, grandchildren, and all those affected by this senseless act of violence. Hopefully, the responsible parties will quickly be brought to justice.
