The Polar Express Train Is Returning to Louisiana in 2026
New Orleans, Louisiana - The Holiday season is getting closer and closer, and if you're looking for something fun to do with the family this holiday season, you might want to check this out. The Polar Express Train Ride is officially returning to New Orleans for the 2026 Christmas season!
I don't know about you, but The Polar Express was one of those Christmas movies I loved watching as a kid. Now, families across Louisiana can experience a little bit of that Christmas magic in real life. I was actually able to check out one of the Polar Express trains a few years ago, and it was AWESOME! Polar Express Train Ride Returning to New Orleans in 2026
The Polar Express Train Ride will run from December 11 through December 31, 2026, at the New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal. The ride lasts about an hour and brings the classic Christmas story to life. Families will climb aboard a real train, where they'll be greeted by characters from The Polar Express.
The holiday train is coming back for the first time since 2024 after taking last year off because of scheduling conflicts with the new Amtrak passenger train service between New Orleans and Mobile.
During the ride, you will have your golden tickets punched, enjoy hot chocolate and cookies served by dancing chefs, and listen to the classic Christmas story. There will also be Christmas music, singing, and plenty of entertainment along the way.
Of course, it wouldn't be The Polar Express without Santa Claus! Santa and his helpers will make a special appearance on the train to greet passengers. Each guest will also receive a silver sleigh bell to take home as a Christmas keepsake.
How Much Are Polar Express Tickets in New Orleans?
Tickets are already on sale, and prices depend on which departure you choose. Here's a look at the 2026 ticket prices:
Value Departures: $78 for adults and $69.50 for children ages 2–11.
Premium Departures: $99.25 for adults and $90.50 for children ages 2–11.
