Now that President Joe Biden's COVID-19 rescue package has been approved and signed into law, many are wondering when they will see their stimulus checks, or more precisely direct deposits.

The Biden COVID rescue package included $1,400 stimulus payments for most Americans, with some families seeing payments as high as $5,600 for a family of four. The Biden administrations shocked some last week when they announced that the President had signed the bill a day early, and also announced that they were set to send the payment starting this past weekend. Just days after the President signed the bill.

It was all true as well. Some people across the country saw money direct deposited into their account as early as Saturday.

But if you weren't one of those people, you might be asking where your money is. Or when can you expect it? The Biden administration was apparently anticipating these questions, so there is now an IRS portal to tell you exactly when to expect your stimulus, or as the kids are calling it, stimmy.

If you want to check on the status of your check, or direct deposit, you can visit the IRS portal right here. This first batch of payments that went out are all direct deposits, so don't expect a physical check any time soon.

When you do visit the website, the IRS says you'll see some different possible answers:

Payment Status

  • A payment has been processed, a payment date is available and payment is to be sent either by direct deposit or mail. Note: mail means you may be issued an EIP Card or a check.

or

  • You’re eligible, but a payment has not been processed and a payment date is not yet available.

It will not show the amount of your 2021 Economic Impact Payment.

Payment Status Not Available: We haven't yet processed your payment or you're not eligible for a payment.

Need More Information: Your payment was returned to the IRS because the Postal Service was unable to deliver it. Only people who get this message can use the tool to give us bank account information.

But if you still have questions about the answer your IRS submission says, there is a FAQ section on the IRS site as well that can hopefully help you out.

As a side note, I personally checked my status this morning, and it did provide me with a date that I can anticipate my direct deposit.
