A Shreveport man faces charges after being accused of stealing another man's identity and using the false information to commit other crimes.

Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator says 37-year-old Allan Murray allegedly stole personal information from the victim and used that information to get a driver's license under a false name. Murray was then able to use that driver's license to open a credit account and two loans in the victim's name. Murray presented forged pay stubs to secure the loans.

How much credit did he get? Nearly $16,000 dollars. Murray also presented the fraudulent driver's license to a Shreveport police officer during a traffic stop and was issued a traffic ticket in the victim's name.

Caddo Sheriff's Detective Jeremy Edward obtained an arrest warrant for Murray on charges of identity theft, forgery, resisting an officer, and unlawful possession of fraudulent documents for identification purposes. On Friday, Edward took Murray into custody and him booked into the Caddo Correctional Center. No bond has been set.
