I worked at Burger King. It was my very first job. I can remember working the register when a person came up and ordered a "Grasshopper". I thought they were joking but the guy was persistent and I had to go to my manager and ask what in the world the guy meant. Turns out a Grasshopper at Burger King is a Whopper with no meat. Who knew?

But that is not the kind of "Taco" this report is talking about. Apparently when the menu says Grasshopper Taco, they really mean a taco with grasshoppers in it. And that is not all the had on the menu, but not anymore, grasshopper tacos and fried tarantula tortas are off the menu in San Francisco.

The San Francisco Health Department has told a popular Mission taqueria that it can no longer offer the two items on its menu because the imported goods are not approved by the FDA.

La Oaxaquena made headlines earlier this year when multiple news agencies reported on the exotic meals its was serving.

But it may have been that attention that got the delicacies taken off the menu entirely -- at least for now.

La Oaxaquena can serve the items again if it can find a source that is FDA approved site that sells edible grasshoppers. Or the taqueria has been told it can grow its own. My question... who would want to eat it in the first place?
