Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced his plans to remove the "Common Core" academic standards from Louisiana's educational system.

The academic standards program has come under fire from parents and teachers in recent months.

Said Jindal, "We want them out of our state. We want out of Common Core."

Jindal called on the Louisiana Legislature, state school board, and high ranking educational officials to come up with "Louisiana standards and a Louisiana test" to replace current academic standards.

The state legislature, school board and eductional officials say they want to stay with Common Core.

Jindal can not do away with the Common Core program without the support of the Louisiana Legislature or the state school board.
