I speak from experience when I say that this free screening could save your life.

We've heard it before, skin cancer is incredibly dangerous, but incredibly curable when caught early. How do you catch it early? You check yourself or have a professional do it. With summer right around the corner, you're going to be spending more and more time out in the sun.

So why not get yourself checked out?

CHRISTUS Health Shreveport-Bossier is offering a free skin cancer screening this Tuesday, May 2. It will be held at the CHRISTUS Cancer Treatment Center, located in the West Wing at the Highland Medical Center, from 5:30-7 p.m. It's incredibly simple and fast. You'll fill out a form and be escorted to an examining room where a medical professional will look over your skin. They will ask you if you have any areas of concern and if they find anything worth taking a second look at, they will write you recommendation.

It's that easy.

And for me, it proved to be exactly what I needed. I took advantage of this last year (and will again this year) and was recommended to have some areas examined. The moles I had removed turned out to be nothing, but they certainly won't cause me trouble down the road now that they're gone. I highly recommend that you take advantage of this, especially if you worship the sun.

Registration is required for this free vent. Simply call 1-844-CHRISTUS.
