Heads up parents: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just issued a very frightening statement - they are recalling 3 very popular powdered baby formulas.


Louisiana Moms and Dads: Do You Feed Your Baby One of These Recalled Formulas?

Officials with the FDA announced that baby-formula makers Abbott was voluntarily recalling some Similac, Alimentum and EleCare products manufactured in their Sturgis, Michigan plant.  In the press release issued on February 17th, the manufacturer cited the cause of the recall as 4 consumer complaints "related to Cronobacter sakazakii or Salmonella Newport," contamination.

Louisiana Parents Need to Be Aware of These Contamination Symptoms

According to the report, a routine inspection of Abbott's plant found traces of Cronobacter sakazakii in a part of the facility classified as a "non-product contact area."  The company says that it's important to note that "no distributed product has tested positive for the presence of either of these bacteria."  An infant that ingests contaminated formula could exhibit a fever, a lack of hunger, excessive crying or low energy as well as other serious symptoms.

Louisiana Parents Need to Check the Manufacturer's Code on the Formula's Packaging

The powdered formula affected by this recall will display a multidigit number on the bottom of the container that starts with the first two digits 22 through 37, contains K8, SH, or Z2 and has an expiration date of April 1, 2022, or after.  This recall doesn't affect
