Considering the manpower and money Louisiana allocates to security at its prisons, it's hard to conceive that any prisoner could actually escape, but not only have these escaped, many have avoided capture for years.

These twenty one men and women have demonstrated themselves to be worthy of all the attention of Louisiana's law enforcement.

Though we are unaware of the specifics of each crime that landed these individuals in the pokey to begin with, we do know that their escapes have put Louisiana's penal system crosshairs squarely on their heads.

It's Amazing How Long Some Of These Fugitives Have Been On The Run

According to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections, some of these individuals have been missing for well over fifty years and it's highly likely those individuals are deceased.

In other cases, it's probable that the individual escaped and headed straight back to their native country.  This proves to be another supporting argument for increased attention to border security.

Some Fugitives Escaped Relatively A Short Time Ago And Are Possibly In The Area

However, some have only been missing a relatively short period of time and it's entirely possible they could be right here among us, passing themselves off as someone else.

Take a look at each of the photos (where available) and if you happen to spot any of these criminals, contact your local law enforcement agency immediately.

Louisiana's 21 Most Wanted Criminals

While some of these have been missing for over 50 years and are likely deceased, many have escaped prison in the past 10 years and could likely still be in Louisiana so keep your eyes peeled and should you spot one of these criminals, immediately contact police.
