It is officially the most wonderful time of the year in the Bayou State. Mardi Gras season has arrived in the 318, and that means one thing: King Cake is taking over our lives.

For the next few weeks, it is finally socially acceptable to eat cake for breakfast without a shred of judgment. While we all have our local favorites, there is one specific "drop" that has the entire city of Shreveport on high alert.

If you consider yourself a local foodie, you already know Dripp Donuts and Dripp Hot Chicken. Y

From their savory kolaches made with legendary Down Home Sausage out of Stonewall to their ever-changing menu of creative flavors, the crew at Dripp is known for keeping us on our toes.

The Epic Glow-Up You’ve Been Waiting For

But let’s talk about the legend that is the Dripp King Cake. This isn't just a pastry; it’s the sourdough donut you already love, given an epic Mardi Gras glow-up.

The problem? After a massive debut, we were left heartbroken. We went all of 2025 without this deliciousness, leaving a King-Cake-shaped hole in our hearts. Thankfully, the hiatus is officially over.

The crew at the Dripp storefront on Line Avenue is back in the kitchen, churning out what might be the most unique King Cake in North Louisiana.

What Makes It Different?

This isn't your typical grocery store King Cake. You won’t find a heavy cream cheese filling here, and frankly, you don't need it. The magic is in the sourdough base. The flavor is packed into the dough itself, and the entire cake is glazed to absolute perfection. It’s light, airy, and carries that signature "Dripp" tang that makes it stand out in a sea of traditional cinnamon rolls.

Because these are handcrafted and the demand is sky-high, they are notoriously elusive. Let’s all be grateful that the Dripp King Cake is back for 2026, but don’t wait too long. In a city this obsessed, these "drops" don't stay on the shelves for long.
