Artist KaDavien Baylor Paints New Historic Mural in Downtown Shreveport
If there’s one thing I love almost as much as calling Shreveport-Bossier home, it’s playing tour guide whenever out-of-town friends and family come to visit. I’m constantly looking for ways to show off the charm and creative spirit of our twin cities, and one of my absolute favorite things to point out is the incredible explosion of colorful public art popping up all over town.

Back when I lived in downtown Shreveport, my daily walks with my dog, Olive, were the highlight of my routine. At one point, I genuinely believed I had cataloged every single mural, sculpture, and hidden art installation in the neighborhood. But almost like clockwork, on another walk down a familiar sidewalk, Olive and I would stumble upon a brand-new masterpiece painted across a brick wall. It turned our ordinary morning strolls into our very own urban treasure hunt right here in downtown Shreveport.
Northwest Louisiana is packed with absurdly talented creatives, but one artist who holds a special place in my heart is KaDavien Baylor. KaDavien has this rare, magical ability to look at a forgotten eyesore or a plain, weathered wall and see a brilliant canvas waiting to happen. Where others see something that should just be painted over and ignored, he transforms it into a breathtaking piece of local pride.
His latest masterpiece is a perfect example! Located on the corner of Crockett Street and Marshall Street, this stunning new mural, conceived by building owner Jason Kram and the history-loving team at Twin Blends: Northwest Louisiana History Hunters, shines a bright spotlight on Shreveport’s rich heritage. Even better news? This transformation was made possible through a grant program funded by Downtown Shreveport Unlimited (DSU) using proceeds from community staples like Mudbug Madness!
DSU is currently looking for more downtown building owners who want to breathe fresh artistic life into their properties. If you have a wall in need of some love, reach out to Terri at terri@mudbugmadness.com to learn how your building could host our city’s next great mural.
