Down Home Meats Stonewall Clarifies Viral Facebook Burger Photo
We’ve all heard the warning: "Don't believe everything you see on the internet." In the age of AI and ChatGPT, that advice is more important than ever. These days, if you can dream it up, there is a computer program that can make it look 100% legit, tricking even the most skeptical locals.
Case in point: Down Home Meats. Our favorite sausage experts out of Stonewall are currently having to set the record straight regarding a hilarious "new" product that doesn't actually exist.
A viral, AI-generated photo featuring the iconic Down Home Sausage logo plastered onto a pack of hamburger patties started making the rounds, and let’s just say it had 318 grill masters ready to storm the grocery store.
The image looked so good that Down Home Meats had to take to Facebook to officially break some hearts. "If you see this post, it is false advertising!" the company shared. "We are strictly smoked sausage!"
The brand included the original prank post, which, unsurprisingly, was filled with hundreds of comments from fans practically begging the company to turn this AI "hallucination" into a reality.
While we won’t be getting Down Home Burgers anytime soon, the confusion gave us a great reason to celebrate what they actually do best.
As they like to say, they aren’t your regular sausage company. This is family-owned, old-school sausage done right. For over 36 years, the team in Stonewall has stayed dedicated to a craft that dates back a century, sticking to four main ingredients and natural casings.
It’s that authentic, old-school smoke flavor that has landed them on The Food Network's BBQ America and made them a staple at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo World Championship Cook-Off.
You can find their legendary links in nearly every grocery store within 250 miles of Stonewall. And while the burgers might be a "deepfake," the love for this local brand is very real. We love seeing our local eateries incorporate Down Home into their menus, just don't expect a patty on your bun.
