Father's Day is getting closer by the minute and if you're still stumped on what to get dear old Dad, apparently he just wants to spend a little time with you. And if that's just not something you're up to, he'll be just as tickled with a gift card.

According to the results of a new survey from RetailmeNot, those two things tied when it comes to what Dad would really like for his big day. 17% of dads responded that they would like most time with their kids and gift cards. (Hint: Dads really like Bass Pro Shops, Academy, Home Depot or any place that sells beer)

When it came to our thoughts about Father's Day, 10% of us think spending time with Dad on Father's Day means we don't need to buy him anything. That's compared to 6% for Mother's Day.

11% of people say they've completely forgotten about Father's Day at least once. And 20% think it's fine to just send Dad a text message.

However, according to the research, we do spend almost as much on Dad as on Mom. The average gift for Dad runs around $61, compared to $68 for the average Mother's Day present.
