Craig Morgan did his best to celebrate the life of his late son, Jerry, on Monday (July 10) instead of grieving on the anniversary of his death. Jerry Greer died in a boating accident on July 10, 2016.

The country singer (real name Craig Morgan Greer) took to Instagram to share a photo from Jerry's high school graduation. The family surrounds him, with everyone smiling on what was a celebratory day.

"It's hard to put into words how sad I am, yet at the same time, I want to celebrate and praise my Heavenly Father for His perfect plan for our lives," Morgan writes in the caption:

Morgan shares that he'll spend the day on the lake, since his son lost his life on a lake. On Facebook he shared two additional photos of Jerry, both without a caption. Another of the singer's sons shared a photo on Instagram of the two brothers as young boys.

"I'll never forget your big goofy smile and loud obnoxious laugh, I miss you so much but I know you're okay," Wyatt Greer writes. "Thank you for always watching over me, love you big bro."

Nearly 24 hours passed between the time Jerry Greer went underwater while tubing on Kentucky Lake and when he was found. His body was located on July 11, with an autopsy later confirming he had drowned. The 19-year-old was wearing a life jacket, and at the time officials could not explain why it did not bring him afloat after the initial accident. Jerry was one of Morgan's four kids with wife Karen. He had recently graduated from Dickson Country High School and hoped to play football in college.
