It's Ally again back with another exciting adventure from deep in Bienville Parish. In Shreveport, roadkill isn't always something that is never seen. If it's not an unfortunate pet, it's usually a raccoon, squirrel or an occasional armadillo or possum. For some reason, I guess I just thought that was all the roadkill possible in the world.

I was wrong.

Since I have lived in the country, I have seen many strange things on the road. I will list them in order.

1. Deer: Ok, so we hear a lot about deer in accidents. It happens a lot. I've seen many deer cross the road or meet their maker. It's always sad. They are such beautiful animals. But, the weirdest thing I have seen is someone on the side of the road taking the antlers. Seriously. I don't know if he was trying to tell everyone about how big a deer he got in deer season or what. What's worse is he was in a company vehicle and probably using his work tools. But whatever. It's Country Louisiana- what do we expect?

2. Turkey. I actually caught myself saying in a serious voice, "Why did the turkey cross the road?!" I didn't even realize it was a turkey at first. Apparently, the ugly female tradition in the bird community also goes with turkeys. This turkey made it.

3. Wolf. I am PRETTY sure I saw a wolf cross the road one day. I couldn't tell much about it, but it was fast and big. Bigger than a fox. So, I assume it was a wolf. I'm not sure, but it was creepy/cool.

4. Fox. I almost stopped it to ask for some CARFAX, but I resisted. He ran too fast anyway.

5. Boar. Seriously, this big brown pig just crossed the road in front of me like I was on the set of LOST or something. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

6. Vultures. Ok, so is it just me or is it kinda odd to see the one who "cleans up" the road kill AS roadkill? Then it poses the question does a vulture feed off it's roadkill friend? I don't know, that discussion disturbs me as much as the idea of chicken/pork/beef mixed pepperoni.

7. Snakes: I've heard of some people backing up and running over them again. I thought it was either a bicycle tire or a snake. Considering that there weren't any houses around, I guess it was a snake.
