There Was a Big Announcement That Has Shreveport-Bossier Residents Jealous.

If you live in Longview, know we are all very jealous across the border. Of course, I am talking about the Texas-Louisiana border. The good news is that many folks in Shreveport-Bossier won't have to drive to Tyler to get a taste of Chuy's Tex-Mex.

Remember When We Thought That the Abandoned Pepito's Building Was a Good Fit for Chuy's Tex-Mex?

Many of us think that Chuy's would thrive here in the Shreveport-Bossier.

Chuy's is far from a legit Mexican restaurant. This is strictly Tex-Mex. If you want authentic Mexican food you go to some of our local favorites like Ki Mexico or go to Taqueria San Miguel or Ramirez Mexican Restaurant.

Chuy's is more of like a Superior Grill vibe. Yes, its' "inspired" by Mexican food and identifies as Mexican food but we all know if a place serves crunchy tacos they're Tex-Mex. By no means am I hating on the wonderful food at Superior Grill, you'll find me there once a week. However, there is a time and a place for Tex-Mex and it fits in for me on any day that ends with a y.

If you've had Chuy's before you already know that it is worth the drive to Tyler, well, soon it will be worth the drive to Longview.

According to Longview City Councilman Temple Carpenter III, Chuy's is opening a new location in Longview. The councilman told CBS 19 that the restaurant would open up next to Raising Cane's on the loop with means it will take over the old Red Robin location. We still don't have an opening date but we are going to watch the development and plan a mini road trip for Tex-Mex.
