Check out the Plan for Cross Bayou [VIDEO]
More details have been released about the Cross Bayou Project. In fact, renderings have been released showing details of the proposed $1.5 billion downtown waterfront development.
Gateway Development Consortium proposes to build 5,000 affordable, market-rate and luxury residences, a new Criminal Justice Center, a State Office Building, multi-Sports Complex and STEM school.
“Spanning 80 acres in an Opportunity Zone, Cross Bayou Point will be
one of the country’s most dynamic urban waterfront neighborhoods,”
said Jerry Hebert, President Of Grace Hebert Curtis.
The news release says the residential towers "will rise above freshly planted fruit orchards that sit next door to a water pavilion. Residents will have access to
amenities that include kayaking and other water sports."
GDC Partner, Larry English says “While this will be the region’s most densely developed neighborhood, we very much want it to reflect our Southern roots."
English adds: “The election of Adrian Perkins as mayor last year was a game changer for the project. I am excited that local leadership is finally moving forward to
develop Cross Bayou."
Caddo Parish Commission President Stormy Gage Watts said the renderings “will help the citizens understand” the size and scope of the project that GDC has proposed.
Take a look at the proposed project:
GDC is asking the Caddo Parish Commission for some of the funding. KEEL News has learned the request could be for $48 million dollars. We asked Stormy Gage Watts about that $48 million dollar figure and she responded:
I don't see any exact numbers in the discussion item, but if I had to shoot ballpark, I'd say that could be a fair amount to develop a $1.5 billion dollar development. In the previous version, they were asking for a $30 million dollar investment to develop a $142 million dollar development.
