According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, one lane of the LA 538 bridge over Caddo Lake in Mooringsport, will be closed from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm this Wednesday, June 30.

For those unfamiliar with the area, this is the Old Mooringsport Road bridge approximately 0.7 miles north of LA 169, in downtown Mooringsport.

The Mooringsport public boat ramp into Caddo Lake sits alongside the bridge.

Officials are doing this in an effort to allow for routine bridge inspection.

The good news from the LaDOTD is that even though one lane will be closed, vehicles 12 feet wide and smaller will still be able to pass through the bridge inspection zone. Larger vehicles must detour using La 169 to I-49 to LA 530 to LA 538.

Of course, as with all road and bridge issues, the work will be performed weather permitting.

The DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
