Brad Paisley went way out of his way to honor the troops over Memorial Day weekend. He flew to Afghanistan for a surprise visit to Bagram Air Base where he played an hour-long acoustic set for about 3,000 U.S. troops. The “Ticks” singer hitched a ride with President Obama on Air Force One.

Brad had to do some serious rearranging to make it happen. He was set to perform in Iowa and had to move the concert to an earlier time in order to make the trip. The President was impressed with Brad’s determination to make the trip telling the troops, “Brad had to juggle a lot of stuff. Without going into details, this was a big sacrifice for him. And he did it because he cares so deeply about the military."
