Sigh... another day another scam. Why are folks so intent on stealing from others instead of making money the old-fashioned way? You know, working!

Detectives from the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office are warning Bossier residents about another round of phone scams to be aware of.

Don't you just hate a thief? Apparently, these idiots can't wait to separate you from your hard-earned money but what they don't realize is that the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office doesn't play. Especially when you're using the names of deputies on their pay role.

Let me explain. These criminal masterminds are contacting Bossier Parish residents and telling them if they don't cough up some dough, they're going to be in trouble with the law. Not cool. Make sure to stay vigilant and let your family members know not to fall for this foolishness.

Here's what the release from the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office had to say:

Detectives say the caller in this scam identifies himself as Sgt. Joey Bowen with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office who called from phone number (318) 663-6251. When answered, the caller tells the recipient about papers that were signed and received by someone in their home and that they need to call the number back about payment. The caller claims his supervisor is Lt. Buck Wilkins.

Yep, they're even using the names of folks in the department, but don't fall for it. The Bossier Sheriff's Office, no law enforcement entity really, will ever contact you via phone demanding payment for a fine. If you have been contacted by someone claiming to be with BPSO asking for money, make sure to call the Bossier Sheriff’s Office at (318) 965-3418 or (318) 965-2203.
