If you have spent any time following the local food scene, you know that the Bagel Boss Lady has become a staple of the Shreveport-Bossier community.

For years, fans followed her journey from a bustling cottage industry to a local phenomenon. That is why there was so much to celebrate in late July of 2024 when the team announced they had finally secured a permanent, brick-and-mortar home by taking over the beloved Wooden Spoon location.

The team hit the ground running, quickly transforming the space into a hub for the Bossier community. They weren't just serving up their signature "Shreveport-famous" bagels; they were churning out delicious new breakfast options, launching full-scale breakfast catering, and maintaining their role as the primary supplier for dozens of our favorite local mom-and-pop coffee shops.

For a while, it seemed like the perfect marriage of a legendary local brand and a classic physical storefront.

A Sudden New Year’s Farewell

However, the start of 2026 has brought some unexpected news for local foodies. In a move that caught many by surprise, The Wooden Spoon officially announced its closure via Facebook just as the new year began.

The announcement, titled with a "Happy New Year" that carried a heavy weight, stated: "It is with heavy hearts that we announce that, as of the posting of this message, The Wooden Spoon has closed its doors. This closure includes all orders for cookie baskets, pastries, breakfast, and lunch."

The message went on to express deep gratitude for the customers who supported the journey over the last two years and the dedicated employees who fueled the shop’s passion.

What’s Next for the Bagels?

While the storefront is gone, there is a silver lining for those who can't live without their bagel fix. The announcement hinted that the "Bagel Boss Lady" isn't going anywhere. For now, we should keep our eyes peeled for their return to their favorite local farmers' markets. Most importantly, you can still find their bagel goodness at various locally-owned coffee shops across the 318.

As we wait for the next official "Bagel Boss Lady" announcement, we say a fond farewell to the Wooden Spoon storefront and look forward to seeing where the Boss Lady lands next in 2026.
