A jury in Bossier Parish found a man guilty on  four counts of Second Degree Rape for forcibly raping a child back in 2019. 36 year-old Gerald Glenn Mitchell of Elm Grove will now face sentencing in December following a pre-sentence investigation. He is facing up to 40 years in prison without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence on all of the four counts.

The victim in this case did not come forward to authorities immediately due to threats made to the child by Mitchell. The child was questioned months after the attack by experts. Afterwards, arrest warrants were obtained for Mitchell.

Several child-advocacy programs were able to come to the trial to testify against Mitchell. These organizations often work with law enforcement in cases involving children, and were instrumental in the investigation and prosecution.
