Bossier High Speed Chase Leads to Crash & Felon Arrest
BOSSIER PARISH, LA- Bossier Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Car Thief After Crash and Joint Search in Haughton
Sheriff Julian Whittington says that Bossier Sheriff’s patrol deputies arrested 27 year old Kaleb Janeczko of Shreveport, after he stole a truck in the 9000 block of Highway 71 in Elm Grove and then caused a headon collision with another vehicle in Haughton.
Janeczko stole the vehicle after it was left running while the owner went inside their residence in Elm Grove. An officer with the Haughton Police Department spotted the vehicle approximately 15 minutes later and attempted to stop it but the vehicle accelerated away at a high rate of speed.
A short time later, the stolen vehicle being driven by Janeczko struck another vehicle head-on in the 400 block of South Elm Street. Janeczko had fled the scene on foot when officers and deputies arrived and began to render aid to the crash victim in the other vehicle who had to be extricated from the vehicle and flown to Ochsner’s LSU Medical Center with serious injuries.
The Bossier Sheriff’s Office, Haughton Police Department, and Louisiana State Police joined in a combined effort to search the area with the assistance of K-9s and a drone but Janeczko was not located after several hours. A Haughton PD officer found Janeczko shortly after 10pm and took him into custody shortly after the search was called off.
Janeczko was turned over to Bossier Sheriff’s deputies who transported and booked him into the Bossier Maximum-Security Facility on the following charges:
- Aggravated Second Degree Battery
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Hit and Run
Fugitive from Caddo Parish Janeczko does not have a bond set for the felony charges as of yet.
