Bossier High School’s Jazz Band Invited To Play The Apollo Theater
The Bossier High School Jazz Band has been given the honor of being invited to Harlem to play at the legendary Apollo Theater! The invitation is for the afternoon of April 9th as part of the New York City Jazz Festival. Now they face the huge task of raising the funds to make the trip.
"The opportunity to be on the stage that a lot of famous artists, legends, have been on, performed on, got their start on or just performed. I'm speechless. I still can't believe it," Bossier High senior Devon King told KSLA.
The band which was only started four years ago have come along way to reach this point. The group is apart of the Bossier Talented Arts Program which connects visual arts, theater and music. "The talented arts program is a program that gives us an opportunity to address these kids' talent in a way; otherwise, they wouldn't have private lessons," said Deb Webb one of the teachers apart of the Bossier Talented Arts Program.
