A heavy law enforcement presence alongside the train tracks in Benton and North Bossier had residents deeply concerned this morning. Tragically, those fears were confirmed as the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office (BPSO) announced the loss of one of their own, Deputy Tim Jordan.

At approximately 8:00 a.m., Deputy Jordan, a four-year veteran of the BPSO, was working a traffic assignment when he was struck by a train. Preliminary reports indicate that he may have misjudged the proximity of his vehicle in relation to the tracks. Though he was immediately transported to Ochsner LSU Hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Deputy Jordan Remembered As A Dedicated Public Servant

Sheriff Julian Whittington expressed the profound grief felt by the department, stating, “This is an extremely difficult day for the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Jordan’s family, and his fellow deputies. Deputy Jordan was a dedicated public servant who took pride in protecting the citizens of Bossier Parish".

Investigation Ongoing

The Louisiana State Police have taken the lead on the investigation into the incident. As the community seeks answers, the BPSO is asking for privacy and prayers for Deputy Jordan’s family, friends, and coworkers during this incredibly difficult time.

Further details will be shared as they become available. Today, we stand with our first responders in mourning a life lost in the line of duty.
