Best in Sheaux 2026 Winners: Doc and Astrid Take Top Honors

The dust has settled on the runway, the votes are in, and the results are officially "paws-itive." This past weekend, Riverview Hall transformed into a high-energy celebration of rescue for the 2026 Best in Sheaux: Tails of the Wild West.

It was a night of high stakes and even higher hearts, all to support the life-saving mission of Robinson’s Rescue.

The competition was fierce, but the public has spoken! Taking home the coveted Raising Cane’s Choice Award was none other than Astrid the "Weenie" dog. This pint-sized powerhouse and certified therapy dog proved that you don't need a high profile to have a massive impact on the community.

Meanwhile, the top honor of the night went to Doc, the 5.5-year-old Black Labrador known for his impeccable manners and duck-hunting prowess. Doc officially claimed the title of 2026 Best in Sheaux, a win earned through the incredible generosity of the public's votes.

I had the absolute pleasure of co-hosting the evening alongside Ed Walsh. Together, we watched as animal lovers from across Northwest Louisiana stepped up to the plate. It was also a special night as we gave our retired Sheriff Steve Prator a well-deserved opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy the festivities while helping us raise the critical funds needed to keep this organization running.

The impact of these donations is staggering. Last year alone, Robinson’s Rescue performed over 104,000 surgeries, a milestone that directly tackles pet overpopulation in our region. Every $5 vote and every auction bid go directly toward making Northwest Louisiana a safer, kinder place for our four-legged friends.
