Summer time is here and you might be thinking about taking a family vacation. My favorite vacation usually involves time at the beach. I love sitting by the water with my toes in the sand enjoying watching the people and catching some sun.

I do have to make sure I bring lots of sun screen or I will roast and be miserable for a few days. That's the secret to a great beach vacation. You have to do everything you can to make sure you don't burn during those first few days.

Plan Now for Summer Vacation

Now is the time to start lining up your summer plans if you haven't started already. Some of the best spots will sell out before we ever get to June and you will want to book those hotels and condos now to be sure you get a good location.

If I just want to sit back and relax, I want to be at the beach. There is nothing better than digging your toes in the sand and watching the waves. I might even take a dip into the Gulf of Mexico (not too deep, thanks to Jaws). But my favorite moments are just sipping on a cocktail and listening to the waves roll in and watching all the children and families enjoying great healthy time together.

Build Great Memories at the Beach

I still have memories of my boys pushing around that little yellow dump truck up and down the beach. They would fill it with wet sand and push it back up to where they were building a sand castle masterpiece. Those memories will never fade.

During my trips to the beach, we would often celebrate with a seafood extravaganza. We would pile the table full with boiled crabs, boiled shrimp and oysters and dig in. I'm not an oyster gal, so that would be left for others. But it was better than any holiday feast you will ever find.
