A lot of eyes around the state were on the Senate District 39 race. Incumbent Greg Tarver and challenger Barbara Norton are two political heavyweights and a lot of folks were expecting sparks to fly all the way up until election day.

But, the fun and excitement came to an end early. Last week, Tarver filed suit against Norton claiming she did not live in District 39. He also stated the home Norton claimed to live at was the residence of a registered sex offender.

On Friday, a judge ruled in favor of Tarver. It was expected that Norton would appeal the decision and continue her quest to become a State Senator. Well, that expectation did not come to fruition.

Norton had until noon today to appeal the decision. However, according to sources, Norton did not file an appeal thus making her ineligible to run for the Senate seat.

This is the second challenger to drop from the race against Tarver. Shante Wells also qualified to run against Tarver, but dropped out of the race after the Senator made claims that he too did not live in District 39.

Jim Slagle, a Republican from Vivian, is the only remaining challenger for Tarver's seat.
