State Sales Tax Holiday Ends Tonight At Midnight
The Louisiana Department of Revenue, with a law passed by the state legislature has adopted this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) as tax-free for most hurricane and storm preparidness items. Local municipalities and parishes, at least none in our part of the state are as gracious and willing to give up their portion of that 8+% sales tax we pay, though.
Lots Of Area Grads Get Scholoships Through MOAA
All local high schools have graduated their seniors. The final graduation ceremony was held last evening at the Shreveport Convention Center, and was C.E. Byrd. The Ark-La-Tex Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America is handing out 26 scholorships totalling $31,000 to deserving local and regional high school graduates at an event to be held Saturday, June 4th.
Man Steals Beer In Hopes of Picking Up Women
A man in Jensen Beach, Florida got picked up by police before he picked up any chicks.
27-old Anthony Hernandez admitted to police he stole an 18-pack of Bud Light from a 7-Eleven last week in the hopes he could use the beer to “score some women.”
East Texas Girl Marries An Okie; Blake & Miranda Tie The Knot
Country singers Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton were married Saturday evening at the Don Strange Ranch in Texas, Taste of Country is reporting.
Among the 550 guests were Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Dierks Bentley and Shelton’s ‘Voice’ cohort, Cee Lo Green.
