Armed Man Falls Asleep in Shreveport Restaurant: Nabbed as Felon

On May 17th, 2023, around 11:15 a.m. Shreveport Police Patrol officers were dispatched to a loitering call in the 5900 block of Line Avenue. Employees of a fast-food business reported that a male had fallen asleep inside of the lobby and was refusing to leave. Employees also noted that a handgun hanging out of his clothing. Officers arrived and contacted the suspect, Gerald Davenport (7-4-65)

Further investigation into the matter revealed that Davenport was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to being a convicted felon for numerous felony offenses.

Davenport was arrested for one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

We are required to advise that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
