Nearly 3 out of 4 Louisiana residents are taking part in something called 'Dryuary.' But what is it?

I think we've all agreed not to do the whole 'new year, new me' deal this year, but that hasn't stopped people from trying to better themselves, whether it's dropping a few pounds or adopting new healthy habits. The habit that 'Dryuary' refers to is alcohol. While almost 3 out of 4 Louisiana residents (70%) referenced above aren't completely abstaining from alcohol for the month of January, they are limiting their consumption. At least, that's what a new study from AlcoholRehab.com found. They also found that 82% of folks would drink the same or more if we were to be placed on lockdown again. (Damn pandemic! Can you blame them?)

However, AlcoholRehab.com found that 1 in 10 Americans are worried about becoming dependent on using alcohol as a coping mechanism and that 63% said they were more worried about their friends or family developing a problem with alcohol than they were worried about them contracting coronavirus.

While I'll admit to self-medicating during the pandemic for stress and anxiety, I think I can put it down to our unusual circumstances over the last year. Have you been drinking more? Have you been drinking alone? I pray that if you need help that you reach out. There are a lot of online resources that can help you to find the right path for you to recover.
