Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death for women in the United States. The National Cancer Institute estimates that 246,660 women will be diagnosed with the disease in 2016, and of those, 40,450 will die.

Medical professionals agree that early detection is the best way to fight any cancer, especially that of the breast. As technology gets better, early detection becomes more and more easily done. Willis-Kinghton is about to open a facility that will be one of the most state of the art facilities in the United States, and will have technologies offered nowhere else in the region. The WK Breast Health Center will open June 23 and will change the future of breast health here in the Ark-La-Tex.

According to Willis-Knighton:

The center, located at 7845 Youree Drive in the WK Portico Center, offers among its services Tomosynthesis 3D Mammography, revolutionary technology that allows doctors to examine breast tissue one layer at a time with no additional compression and only a few seconds longer than a traditional mammogram. The Breast Health Center is the only facility in the region that offers core and stereotactic biopsies using this advanced technology. In addition, dedicated breast sonography and ultrasound guided biopsies services are available.

In addition, the hours of operation will provide as many people access to the services as possible, saving lives in the process.

The center will be open from 7:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

The grand opening, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., will feature tours of the center where screening and diagnostic breast health is performed in a high-tech, relaxing spa-like environment. Those attending will enjoy refreshments as well as receive a special gift.
