It's hard to believe just how many people from Shreveport or Bossier City have gone on to lives of incredible celebrity.  What's even harder is identifying the 5 most famous of those people.

In cities blessed with the likes of David Toms, Hal Sutton, Jacob Hester, Stromile Swift, Freddie Spencer, Faron Young, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, K.D. Aubert, Van Cliburn, Bill Joyce and Andy Sidaris, it's a tough call to name those five, but that's what I'm about to do.

In my humble opinion, those 5 are:

    Jared Leto

    Actor/Musician/Heart Throb

Leto was born in 1971 in Bossier City but moved often because his grandfather, with whom he lived, was in the Air Force.  Leto's biggest credits include his role in Dallas Buyer's Club and Panic Room.  He's also the front man and song writer for Thirty Seconds To Mars.

    Kix Brooks

    Half of Brooks & Dunn

Kix Brooks was not only born in Shreveport, but went to school here and even graduated college from Louisiana Tech.  As half of the most successful country music duo in history, Brooks sang mostly background vocals, but he did sing lead on "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone" which was a #1 hit in 1995.

    Hank Williams, Jr.

The Rowdiest Man in Country Music

Born in Shreveport in 1949, Hank Jr.'s famous nickname "Bocephus" was actually stolen from a ventriloquist's dummy.  His world wide fame is without question and for many, he epitomizes what is "true" country music.  Former multi-time "Entertainer of the Year" for both the CMA and the Academy of Country Music.

    Terry Bradshaw

One of Greatest NFL Quarterbacks of All Time

As you drive down the Terry Bradshaw Passway, is there any wonder why he might be my #1 choice?  A Woodlawn High School and Louisiana Tech graduate, Bradshaw commanded the respect of every defensive back in the NFL during the dynasty years of the Pittsburgh Steelers. And his humor and quick wit have easily made him one of the greatest football announcers to ever grace our Sunday television screen.
