After getting a huge SEC win over 2nd ranked Georgia, the LSU Tigers are back in the top 5 in the country.

The Tigers beat the Bulldogs 36-16 Saturday afternoon in Tiger stadium.

The Tigers move up to No. 5 in both the Associated Press Top-25 poll and the Amway Coaches Poll published by USA Today -- a jump of eight spots in the AP list and seven in the coaches list.

LSU had fallen to No. 13 after the loss to Florida last week, but this latest win gets the Tigers back on track to contend for the national title.

Georgia (6-1, 3-1) fell four spots to No. 6 in the coaches poll and to No. 8 in the AP poll.

So far this season, LSU has beaten three top-10 teams: Miami, Auburn and Georgia.

But the Bayou Bengals still have quite the gauntlet ahead in the SEC. The Tigers take on 22nd ranked Mississippi State this coming Saturday.

The first College Football Playoff poll will be released on October 30, just ahead of the Tigers November 3rd match up with top ranked Alabama. The Tigers have a week off before battling Alabama in Baton Rouge.
