ORIGINAL STORY:  According to the Caddo Sheriff's Office, there's been a new twist to a phishing scam involving WESLA Federal Credit Union.

Numerous residents have been receiving text messages, supposedly from WESLA, saying the recipients' debit cards have been locked. A phone number is provided, along with instructions on how to unlock the card. Even locals who don't have these cards have been getting the messages.

Sheriff Steve Prator warns residents not to respond to these texts or give out any personal information, including bank account numbers.

Detectives with the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force are working with the FBI to investigate the scam.

If you have responded to a text and given out your bank account information, call the Task Force at 318-681-0770.
