It’s the first weekend of fall and the temps are perfect to get you in the mood for the new season. Get out of the house and enjoy it with everything from a haunted maze to the hunting and fishing day festival in Bodcau. Dixie Maze Farm’s Haunted Maze: If you’re ready for the spooky holiday you may want to grab your friends and scare up some fun inside a haunted corn maze. Dixie Maze Farms has a number of great attractions from the haunted maze to a haunted trail and zombie paintball. Not everything is available everyday so make sure you check out there website for what’s going on what days. Dixie Maze farm is open now through November 1st. (more)

Sci-Port Presents "Star Party": Friday, September 26. It’s the galaxy like you’ve never seen before! You’ll get to go onto the roof and take a look at the Andromeda Galaxy. Race For Research: The Spine Institute of Louisiana Foundation is proud to announce their second Race Saturday, September 27th! Bodcau National Hunting and Fishing Day Festival: You and the kids will want to make plans to join the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries for the 2014 National Hunting and Fishing Day Festival this Saturday, September 27th, from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm, at the Tom Merrill Recreation Area, Bayou Bodcau Dam and Reservoir, 1700 Bodcau Dam Rd, Haughton, LA. Bossier Parish Rifle Range Open to Public: The range, located at 2955 Old Plain Dealing Road in Plain Dealing, will be open on Friday and Saturday on Sept. 26-27, with hours of operation from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. The range will not be open for public use on Oct. 10-11. The range features 12 shooting lanes with targets at 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards. (more)

“Drug Take Back Day”: Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington says residents can turn in their unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications for safe disposal at the Viking Drive Substation at 2510 Viking Drive in Bossier City on Saturday, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The National Take-Back Initiative is part of the one-day collaborative effort with the Drug Enforcement Administration in which law enforcement agencies locally and around the country will collect unwanted prescription drugs and other medications for disposal. (more)
