Weekend Events for Shreveport and Bossier City

Hold on to your hats boys and girls there is almost too much going on this weekend. From awesome High School football to one of the funniest ventriloquists in US history we’ve got ya covered in Kiss Country. Check out all the great events below.

The Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase: The two day event has expanded to 12 teams, including area powerhouses Parkway and C.E. Byrd. The 12 team field will also feature three defending state champion programs… El Dorado High School, the Arkansas 6A champions; John Curtis Christian, the Louisiana Division II Champions; and Acadiana High School, the Louisiana 5A Champions. Big Smo: At Silver Star Smokehouse's new outdoor concert hall, The Stage, Friday, September 12 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20. (more)

Mooringsport Cypress Festival: Friday and Saturday, September 12 and 13 you’ll enjoy great food, loads of live music and performances, fun contests with prizes and there’s karaoke. Additionally, several churches and schools will hold reunions at the event and there’s not just one, but two parades. (more)

NHRA Lucas Oil Division 4 Races: Thunder Road Raceway Park, located at 5700 Thunder Road Raceway in Gilliam, Louisiana, will host the event all weekend. Gates open at 9 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 8 a.m. on Sunday. (more)

Christian Motorcyclists Association Rummage Sale: Beginning at 7:00 am Saturday, members of the local chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists Association will hold a rummage sale for CMA for Christian Ministries at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Airline Drive in Bossier City, across from WalMart/Sonic/Lowes. They’ll have an awesome variety to choose from including furniture, household goods, Christmas decorations and much more. (more)

Donate Life Hope Run: The Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency is excited to host the 3rd Annual 5k and 1 Mile Memorial Walk. Join us for a family fun-filled day as we raise awareness for organ, tissue, and cornea donation and also honor those who have become heroes by giving the gift of life! (more)

6th Annual Dragon Boat Festival: The Rotary Club of Shreveport will present the 6th Annual Red River Dragon Boat Festival beginning at 8:30 a.m., Sept. 13 at RiverView Plaza on Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport. Dragon boat races will begin immediately following an opening ceremony. (more)
