There is a lot going on going into the long holiday weekend. If you want to hear some great live music you’ve got quite a few options this weekend. Plus, there are a number of other events perfect for the kids to this weekend as well. Check out all the great events below.

Bayou Mud Fest at Muddy Bottoms: Gates open at 10:00 a.m. on August 29 and the park remains open through 5:00 p.m. Monday, September 1. Jamey Johnson will perform Saturday at 10:00 pm. Special guests are Kyle Park and Chris Hennessee. (more)

Bossier Parish Football Jamboree: It’s an annual tradition for most everyone in Bossier Parish. The 61st Annual Bossier City Lions Club High School Football Jamboree will be held on Friday, August 29 at Airline High School Football Stadium. Gates will open at 5 pm and pre-game ceremonies begin at 5:45 pm, with the first game set for a 6 pm kickoff. Tickets are only $5 for adults. (more)

Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers: Margaritaville Friday night. There have been many great voices in country music and one golden one Larry Gatlin. After a 17-year absence from the Nashville recording and songwriting scene, Gatlin and his harmony-singing brothers, Rudy and Steve, are back with a new album, Pilgrimage. (more)

Shreveport Farmers Market: The Saturday morning event at Festival Plaza kicks off at 7am features live music, homegrown fruits and vegetables. As well as, jams, jellies, prepared food, art and more. (more)

Ark-La-Tex Gun and Knife Show: the Bossier Civic Center this weekend. If you're looking for ammunition, unique coins, swords, antique arms, guns or knives, this weekend this is the place you’ll find it. Doors are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday Aug 30-31. You can buy, sell, trade or just look. You’ll see one of the most unique collections of weaponry ever assembled in the area.
