Have you ever heard someone around you say, "There's NOTHING to do in Shreveport."

When you hear that, what do you say? Do you agree, or do you tell that person there's plenty to do if one knows where to look.

Because the latter is VERY true. We live in one of the most artistic and culturally diverse regions in the state outside of New Orleans, and I HATE hearing people say there's nothing to do. There's plenty of art, entertainment, music, and events to attend in the SBC, and once you know how to find them, your social calendar will fill up in no time!

That's where Heliopolis comes in. Named after the steamboat that Henry Miller Shreve used to clear the Great Raft (the log jam...not the local beer), Heliopolis is, according to their website:

...an independent news source for the Shreveport-Bossier underground which features a twice-monthly, full-color printed paper and a website along with social media presences on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We are focused on providing relevant, up-to-date news to those who are looking for something a little different from mainstream media. Our specialties are community culture, the arts, and entertainment, along with related news stories to keep our followers in the know about all that’s happening within the cities of Shreveport and Bossier City. With our dedicated readership building momentumevery day, we cover local arts, music, and news with passion and authority.

Plus, on their Facebook page, they give away great local products!
