The month of October is nationally recognized as Down Syndrome Awareness month, and to coincide with events all over the country, the local, annual "Buddy Walk" for Down Sydrome will be held October 10 on the campus of LSUS.

Registration will begin at 9:00 am and the ceremonial walk around the campus will begin at 10:00 am.

After that, families, friends and supporters will gather to celebrate loved ones.  Along with lunch that will be provided, the event will feature, music, bounce houses and face painting.

Up with Downs is a non-profit Support group dedicated to improving the lives and livelihoods of individuals with Down Syndrome. It's their hope to provide information and inspiration to help those with Down Syndrome live a full and engaged life. The Buddy Walk helps give back to other Organizations that support individuals with disabilities nationally and locally. They give back to the National Down Syndrome Society, 4 camp programs, 2 parents night out programs, a local Church that does a special needs prom, a residential facility, a cheer team, a softball team, a swim team and a daycare that specializes in loving on special needs kids of all types
