After a rough past few years of injuries and now losing the starting job to Dak Prescott ESPN is reporting that sources say Tony Romo will be released from the Dallas Cowboys prior to the 2017 season. Despite early rumors of Romo being traded possibly for a big name defensive player ESPN's Ed Werder says his sources are saying he will be released free to pursue a contract with another team.

Sources close to Romo are saying despite his history of injuries the QB still has 2-3 years left possibly as a starting player for another team. Tony Romo turns 37 years old in April.

Cutting Tony Romo will be costly for the Dallas Cowboys as his contract has him set to make $24 Million next year which will put them $10 million against the 2017 salary cap.
