Today, Tuesday, February 27, is World Spay Day and it's recognized in nearly 70 countries around the world. At the risk of sounding like Bob Barker, it's so important to get your pets spayed and neutered.

It breaks my heart to see so many unwanted animals in our local shelters and rescues, that's why I started Bristol's Babies. I personally don't understand why folks don't spay and neuter their animals, especially when we have organizations like Robinson's Rescue available to us in our community.

Robinson's charges $38 to neuter a male cat, $48 to spay a female cat, $58 to neuter a male dog and $68 to spay a female dog.  They will add a $10 charge to give your pet a rabies vaccination if they aren't up to date. And if you can't afford these prices, there are emergency vet assistance programs available like the one provided by the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux who will work to defer the cost.

So please, spay or neuter your pets if they aren't already! My dream is to make sure all fur babies have loving forever homes and that our area shelters and rescues are empty!
