  • Date: February 3, 2013
  • Place: Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana.
  • Television Network: CBS
  • The Baltimore Ravens representing the AFC will play the San Francisco 49'ers from the NFC
  • For the first time in history, two brothers will coach against each other in the Super Bowl.  Jim Harbaugh is head coach for the 49'ers and John Harbaugh is head coach for the Baltimore Ravens
  • Each thirty-second commercial will cost $4 million dollars. That's a record.
  • Last year’s Super Bowl was the most viewed television program in history with 111 million viewers.
  • Tickets for the first Super Bowl cost as little as $6.00.  The cheapest ticket found for Super Bowl XLVII was $1,955. Tickets on the 50 yard line sold for $6,505 each.
  • Americans are expected to consume 1.3 million chicken wings during the broadcast and about 5,000 lbs. of hot dogs.
  • Antacid sales increase 20% the day after the big game.
  • 6% of American workers are expected to call in sick the day after the Super Bowl.
  • Typically 5% of viewers will watch the Super Bowl alone.
  • More drivers are involved in alcohol related accidents on Super Bowl Sunday than any other day of the year
  • Players Compensation in the first Super Bowl:  The winning team, the Green Bay Packers received $15,000 per player.  The losers, Kansas City Chiefs received $7,500 each.
  • In contrast, 2 years ago in Super Bowl XLV, the Green Bay Packers, again winners received $83,000.  The losing team, Pittsburgh Steelers players received $42,000
  • Weird bets you can actually put money on in 'Vegas:
    What color Gatorade will be dumped on the winning head coach?
    Will the coin toss be heads or tails?
    How many seconds will it take to sing the national anthem?
