The Big Lebowski has accrued quite a following in the last 20 years.  The cult favorite hit theaters in 1998 with a lackluster performance at the box office, despite it's all-star cast.  The movie barely cleared 15 million, but that number would not reflect how dearly fans would come to love every last aspect of this movie.  An almost religious-like following has sprung up around the philosophy of the Dude, the laid-back (to a fault) main character in the film played by Jeff Bridges.  The movie has had such an impact on our world, that in 2014 it was selected as a "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" film and preserved in the Library of Congress’s National Film Registry for future generations.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Coen Brothers classic, select theaters across the country are giving fans another chance to see it in the intended format - the silver screen.  Luckily, one of the theaters is our very own Tinseltown off Millicent Way in Shreveport.  The showings will be August 5th and 8th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. each day.

Now, just a few little know facts about one of the coolest movies ever made:

  • The Dude is in every scene of the movie.  Every single one.
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea is one of the nihilists.
  • The movie has been cited in a Texas courthouse in a legal decision.
