Mudbug Madness

With Mudbug Madness getting underway this Thursday, May 21, at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport, it occurred to us that there might be a few things that even the most seasoned Cajun might not know about our crustacean companion, the old Mudbug!

It's Mudbug Madness week here in Northwest Louisiana!  What began in 1984 as a two-day street festival in downtown Shreveport is now one of Louisiana’s largest and most popular Cajun festivals in the entire state.

The 31st annual Mudbug Madness Festival has come and gone.  You can check out some photos from the festival posted by folks here. I'm not one to toot my own horn, actually... yes I am.  So, in case you missed it... here's video of my victory at the VIP/Celebrity Crawfish Eating Contest that traditionally kicks off the festival each year.

The 31st annual Mudbug Madness Festival kicks off today at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport. The event opens at 11am and goes till 11 pm everyday through Sunday and will feature two stages of around-the-clock live music, as well as Louisiana crawfish served every imaginable way. The best part is it’s FREE to get in today and tomorrow (Friday) till 5pm.

Mudbug Madness kicked off today at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport with the "Crawfish Eating Contest," and Kiss Country's very own Chris Evans won 2nd place. That marks two years in a row as the first runner-up. Good job, champ!
