The first ever bass tournament to benefit D.A.R.T. (Domestic Abuse Resistance Team) will be held this Sunday, May 26 at Red River South Marina on Red River.

Cade was born October 8, 2009 and since that very day, he's battled Cystic Fibrosis. CF is a deadly genetic disease affecting more than 30,000 children and young adults making every day a struggle for these angels. And though there is no cure at this time, researchers world wide have devoted countless hours in its search.

On June 1 from 10 am until 2pm, you're invited for all the fun, the great workout and to help raise funds for the American Cancer Society at the Relay For Life Caddo Zumba-A-Thon at the Red River District, under the Texas Street Bridge.

Last month, on March 2, the Benton Elementary Archery Team won the NASP (National Archery in School Program) State Championship.  And not only did Coach Perry Norcross lead the team to a State Title, but they scored higher than the Middle School and High School Champions.

The Texas Thunder Festival, featuring the Randy Rogers Band, Wade Bowen, Casey Donahew Band, Josh Abbott Band and Stoney LaRue, makes its debut in 2013. It is also part of an effort to raise funds to benefit the schools, first responders and victims of the explosion that took place at a fertilizer plant in West, Texas 10 days ago on April 17.

About 3 years ago, Donette Muse was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.  After an 8 month bout of chemo all her doctors said that she'd won her battle with the Big C. However, a few months back at one of Donette's routine check ups the doctors detected a higher than usual CA-125 count (what Doctors use to help detect active Cancer cells) and informed Donette the cancer had returned.

Haughton High School's JROTC  is sponsoring the Jessie Memorial 5K this Saturday, April 27th at 8:30 a.m. at Haughton High. This memorial represents Jessie Meriwether, who was diagnosed with leukemia and passed away, and is representing others who have been treated with cancer.

The Caddo Parish Fire Chief’s Association is selling raffle tickets for a 2013 Honda 420 FM 4x4 4-wheeler.  All the proceeds will go toward assisting Rev. Durell Tuberville with his medical bills.

It's rodeo time here in Kiss Country and the 13th Annual Cass County Championship Rodeo is coming up Friday and Saturday, April 26 and 27 at 8 pm nightly.
