The 2nd Annual Trap Shoot Fund Raiser sponsored by the Christmas in Plain Dealing Committee will be held on August 24th at the Doerr Farm, located at 17504 Hwy 157, Plain Dealing, LA.

With our Sportsman's Expo coming up this weekend, you might have fish on the brain. Well, the show doesn't actually begin until 4pm Friday, so to prepare you for the weekend, you might check out what the Sheriff has to offer.  The Caddo Sheriff's Office will hold a fish fry from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Friday, July 19, at the south substation, 9956 Mansfield Road, near Keithville.

Apparently our Cajun heritage in Louisiana comes with a price tag.  There's something about being Cajun that makes us more susceptible to carry what's known as the "Tay-Sachs" gene. About one in 27 Cajuns test positive for the gene, but the disease can only be passed on when both parents carry the gene, and even then, there is still only a slight chance the child will inherit the disease

Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington has been extremely moved by the recent support of his decision to maintain the use of God and prayer in the Bossier Parish “Young Marines” and “Youth Diversion” programs and thus forego the Federal grant of $15,000.  Because of this issue, Kiss Country joins the Sheriff to invite the public to the “In God We Trust” rally this Thursday, July 4 from 1-4pm at

Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington received notice that he would lose $15,000 in Federal Funding for the "Young Marines Program" unless he would sign a letter “pledging that no prayer or mention of God would be allowed” in the programs.

Multi-Platinum selling blues/rock guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd and DCF Concerts in association with Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana announced today they will work together for the “We Can Help Moore” Relief Effort to benefit the victims of the recent tornadoes in Moore, Oklahoma.

Blake Shelton's native Oklahoma was hit hard last week with tornadoes in and around Moore, Oklahoma. In a statement on Kiss Country, Shelton said "Oklahomans are resilient and will rise up from this with our help." Tonight at 8:00 p.m. central time, Blake and several friends with give us the opportunity to extend that help and you can watch it live right here.

You may remember Josh Lesniewski’s story from June 30, 2011, when he barely survived a fall from a 30 ft. ladder. Josh, who is only 30 years old, suffered a traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury, which left him paralyzed below the waist. Despite his own struggles Josh is determined to help others who have also been disabled by such tragic events.
