Supreme Court Hobby Lobby Ruling — Gov. Jindal, Sen. David Vitter React

Monday morning's Supreme Court ruling that nationwide arts and crafts franchise Hobby Lobby does not have to cover the cost of female employees' contraceptives was praised by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) and several other Louisiana politicians. 

And Congressman Bill Cassidy (R-La.) applauded the Supreme Court's decision to allow the chain store to exercise its freedom of religion in the Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. case, which centered around the argument that the government could force business owners to comply with Obamacase mandates that violated their faith.

"Freedom of religion and our First Amendment rights must be protected and respected," said Dr. Cassidy in a statement. "The President and congressional Democrats supported this federal mandate, which conflicts with Louisiana values."

Rep. Cassidy added that freedom of religion is a "a sacred freedom that must be preserved."
