To continue the season-long celebration of all things summer, the Red River Entertainment District (RRED) announces its July installment of SummerFest in the District.

Local food trucks, area entertainment venues, live music and street performers round out the lineup for the mini family-friendly festival in the Red River Entertainment District this Saturday, July 26, from noon until 3:00 PM.

Local food trucks Jester Catering, Lilah’s Bakery, Missing Link, and Grill of the Dead will again be on hand to offer their own unique flavor to festival attendees.

Sweet Tee’s will be selling their vintage Shreveport-inspired t-shirts. Kathy Ross, co-owner, said, “We love being a part of events like this in the Red River Entertainment District because it’s really in line with what Sweet Tee’s is all about: celebrating Shreveport and the people who live here.”

Red River Son, a band that is relatively new to the area, will perform on the RRED stage.  Cameron Merrell, lead singer of the band, has high hopes for their participation in SummerFest. “It’s great to participate in events that focus on families and the community,” says Merrell. “We hope to see a lot of families and kids in the audience.”

There will be plenty to keep kids busy.  Street performers will bring an added element of fun with performances by stilt walkers, jugglers and magicians.  “Street performance is a lost art,” says Josh Ellis, owner of Spinner Entertainment. “Shreveport has a long history with street performing, dating back to when the region was an actual port. Street performers brought entertainment to everyone, regardless of their socioeconomic status. I’m excited to bring this form of theater back to the area, and even more so that we get to do it in the historic Red River Entertainment District. It’s sort of full circle.”

Thunder Road Raceway will give participants a chance to get up close and personal with one of their dragsters. Inflatable attractions, Holiday Lanes and Splash Kingdom will be on hand to keep the children happy.  Parents will have the chance to sign up for some free giveaways for their kids, as well.

RRED tenants Nicky’s Mexican Restaurant, Fatty Arbuckles, and Fully Stacked will be available for beverages and to offer a place to cool off during and after the event.

Marissa Carbine, event coordinator for the Red River Entertainment District says, “We hope to have gorgeous weather this weekend, and we can’t wait to see the community come out and enjoy all that the District has to offer!”
