According to the Shreveport Police Department Mary Chapple 39 from Shreveport transported her husband Shelby Chapple, 25 also from Shreveport to Willis Knighton Hospital. Shreveport Police Officers responded to the Hospital on a report of a male in the emergency room who had been shot in his lower abdomen. The victim Shelby Chapple, would not cooperate with the police officers. The victims wife Mary Chapple, claimed that her husband had left the house and returned after 20 minutes with a gunshot wound. The victims wife said the incident happened on Monkhouse Drive but could not provide further information.

The investigators with the Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit launched an investigation due to lack of cooperation from the victim. Investigators received information that indicated that Mary Chapple, the victims wife is the alleged suspect. Investigators received the warrant for Mary Chapple charging her with Attempted Second Degree Murder. Chapple's bond has been set at $150,000.00, and Crime Stoppers is offering a reward that can lead to Mary Chappel's arrest.
